The Weekend Update

I didn't have much time to update during the week, but I keep plugging along.  Today was day number 8 in a row for me hitting the gym, and I've been racking up some miles on the bike, and also on the treadmill.  72 since I last posted, which brings us to 1825 miles, and we'll be hitting Estelline, Texas tomorrow, which is our 11th state.

We did shave off 8 days and our now projected to finish on 5/18/2012, well past our goal.  I did say we, but hopefully it's not just I.  If you've been doing anything don't forget to log your miles!

I did notice that I'm now 375 miles behind Dad, so my goal is to pass him out for most miles.  Hopefully his goal is to do everything possible to not let that happen!

February 20th - Instant Karma

I woke up early and hit the gym, logging 15 miles on the bike.  I am thinking about joining a spinning class at least one day a week, but for now I'm getting used to the different machines and getting some mileage for our cross country trek.  With today's miles I've knocked 2 days off our projected finish date, dropping it from 5/26 to 5/24/2012.  Don't make me do it all myself, let's get moving everyone!

As for my updates on my goals before 6/12-
47 pounds to go
970 miles to go

Plus a couple of hours swimming around in the pool with the kids.  I'm planning on rising early and hitting the gym again, so wish me luck!

I'm planning on making 2011 better than 2010.  Last year I was able to:
118 straight days of logging at least 2 miles
Logged 422 miles
Lost 80 pounds

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm now +7 from my low point, the damage from my three month hiatus of not working out, and not eating as good as I should be.  But I can't change the past, only the future, so I'm confident that I'm back on track now.

Progress Update

Things aren't looking too great for us - our projected finish date is 5/26/2012...

There are 177 days remaining though, and we need 33.95 miles per day to get there by our deadline.  For the record we've had just 5 days hitting that amount or more.

A couple of the next milestones -
479.5 miles to Albuquerque, New Mexico
893.5 miles to Phoenix, Arizona
1261.5 miles to Oceanside, California
4271.5 miles until the finish line.

It's a long road ahead, we've logged 1738.9 miles so far, so we haven't even reached the halfway point.  We've definitely got our work cut out for us, but let's start making some progress!

Reptilia - The Wait is Over

Inspiration can come in many different forms, and the other night while working this song came on the radio.  That combined with spring like weather has gotten me inspired again, and it is time to dust off the spreadsheet, find out what our progress has been on our journey across America, and get moving again!

My first step was to sign up for the Warrior Dash with Lynn, then we joined the Y yesterday, hit the pool last night, and I got my playlist ready to go, and I hit the gym today.  I spent about an hour and fifteen minutes working out, hitting the bike first and going 14 miles, then jogging a mile on the treadmill to round it all off.

It's time for me to get serious again, and hopefully you'll join me.  As the song says, "You're not trying hard enough, our lives are changing", so let's get moving.

I've got 16 weeks until the Warrior Dash, and here is what I'm going to do by then:

  • Lose 50 pounds
  • Log 1000 miles
I'll summarize where we are on our journey next, but if you have miles you need to enter get them in, and let's get across the country and back!
